Four Unforgettable Days in Jericoacoara: International Visitors

Welcome to Jericoacoara, Ceará—or simply Jeri, as locals lovingly call it—one of Brazil’s most enchanting beach destinations. With its golden dunes, breathtaking sunsets, crystal-clear lagoons, and car-free sandy streets, Jeri feels like a dream carved between the desert and the sea.

This complete 4-day itinerary brings you the best attractions, insider tips, top restaurants, prices, and everything you need to plan the perfect trip to Jericoacoara.

How to Get to Jericoacoara

Reaching Jeri is part of the adventure. Most travelers fly into Fortaleza (FOR) and continue by bus, 4x4 transport, or private transfer.

After arriving at the connection point (usually Jijoca), travelers switch to the famous “jardineira” 4x4 trucks, which navigate the dunes for about 40 minutes until reaching the village.

Come well-rested, because the journey—although scenic—can be long. But the reward? You’ll get your first taste of Jeri’s surreal landscapes right as you approach the village.

Where to Stay in Jericoacoara

We stayed at Pousada Caminho da Praia — a charming and cozy guesthouse with spacious rooms, friendly service, and even adorable rescued cats roaming around. The rooftop offers views of the sea and the village, making it a perfect spot to relax at sunset.

Rooms include:

  • Comfortable beds

  • Air-conditioning

  • Minibar

  • Safe box

  • Large TV

  • Complimentary coffee

  • A roomy bathroom

A wonderful value for money.

Where to Eat in Jeri

For a delicious lunch with great prices and tables right on the sand, try Gerizando Restaurant.

At night, Jeri becomes a paradise for food lovers. The village offers everything from fresh lobster and international cuisine to pizza, crepes, and affordable street food.

💰 Budget Tip:
Head to Rua São Francisco for the best inexpensive restaurants.

🍹 Nightlife Must-See:
Visit the famous “Rua das Caipirinhas”, where dozens of stands serve cocktails at great prices. Most nights, there are free beach luaus with live music—a true Jeri experience.

Day 1 — Sunset at the Main Beach + Village Vibes

Jeri’s sandy streets and laid-back atmosphere make the village feel like a small tropical oasis.

Start at Jericoacoara Main Beach, always lively and full of bars, restaurants, and colorful fishing boats. Stay for sunset and enjoy a drink at Terraço Jeri, which offers panoramic views of the ocean.

At night, explore the restaurants, bars, and live music around the village.

Day 2 — East Coast Tour (Lado Leste): The Iconic Jeri Experience

The East Coast Tour is the most famous tour in Jericoacoara—and if you can only choose one, this is it.

1. Sloth Tree (Árvore da Preguiça)

A quick but iconic stop.
Shaped by decades of strong winds, the tree grows horizontally across the sand.

📸 Pro Tip: skip the line by taking photos from the side — the angle is just as beautiful.

2. Buraco Azul (Blue Hole)

One of the most Instagrammable places in Jeri.

  • Unreal turquoise water

  • Natural lagoon formed by rain + limestone

  • Hammocks, chairs, and photo spots

  • Perfect for swimming

  • Quick stop (about 1 hour)

The water looks filtered, but it’s 100% natural.

🏝️ 3. Lagun (Lagum Beach Club)

A beautiful, club-like lagoon with:

  • Photo spots

  • Ropes and swings

  • Shallow pools

  • Tirolesa (zipline)

  • Optional helicopter tours

  • Full restaurant structure

Fun, relaxed, and ideal for families.

4. Paradise Lagoon (Lagoa do Paraíso)

The most famous lagoon in Jericoacoara.

This is where you’ll find the iconic hammocks in the water. The crystal-clear shades of blue and green are surreal.

You can spend hours relaxing at the beach clubs — especially the popular Alchymist Beach Club.

We opted for the Água Viva Restaurant, which has great food and many Instagrammable spots.

5. Amâncio Lagoon (Lagoa do Amâncio)

A quick 20-minute stop, but one of the most beautiful views of the entire trip.

The landscape resembles the Lençóis Maranhenses with dunes meeting a crystal-clear lagoon.

Peaceful, dramatic, and unforgettable.

Sunset at the Duna do Pôr do Sol

After returning to the village, head to the famous Sunset Dune—a daily ritual for everyone in Jeri.

The sky turns shades of pink, orange, and gold.
A must-see.

Day 3 — West Coast Tour (Lado Oeste): Adventure + Nature

The West Coast tour is perfect for those who want adventure, rustic landscapes, and wildlife encounters.

1. Seahorse Ecological Tour (Cavalo-Marinho)

A peaceful canoe ride through the Guriú River mangroves.

Local guides help visitors spot camouflaged seahorses and explain how — in this species — the males get pregnant.

You may also see:

  • Iguanas

  • Birds

  • Mangrove wildlife

🌳 2. Mangue Seco (Guriú Mangrove)

A surreal landscape of dry, twisted mangrove trees emerging from the water.

Perfect for unique, non-cliché beach photos.

3. Dune Rally + Toboggan Slides

Your 4x4 driver will take you through thrilling dunes with emotional climbs and drops.

In Tatajuba you’ll find:

  • Tobogã (sand/water slide)

  • Zipline

  • Skibunda

All optional, paid separately — and worth it for adventure lovers.

4. Tatajuba Lagoon

The final stop: a calm, refreshing lagoon surrounded by dunes.

Great for:

  • Swimming

  • Kayaking

  • Stand-up paddle

  • Hammocks in the water

  • Lunch at the rustic lake-side restaurants

It’s relaxing, quiet, and the perfect cool-down after a day of excitement.

Day 4 — Pedra Furada + Malhada Beach

1. Pedra Furada (The Arch Rock)

A symbol of Jericoacoara — a natural stone arch carved by sea and wind.

Half an hour hiking to reach it.

Try to go near sunset for dramatic lighting. In certain months (July–August), the sun aligns perfectly inside the arch. Magical.

2. Malhada Beach

A hidden gem right beside the main beach.

Perfect for:

  • Sunrise

  • Peace and quiet

  • Natural pools

  • Photography

  • Early-morning swims

A serene end to your 4-day adventure.
